OUTSIDE MACHINIST JOURNEYMAN
SALARY RANGE: $33-$35
JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Outside Machinist Journeyman is assigned hands on responsibilities for the removal, installation and testing of main and auxiliary shipboard equipment including but not limited to MRG’s pumps, hydraulics, valves, bearings, doors, hatches, laundry washers and dryers, scullery equipment, windows etc. Must be able to work in various stages of repair and modernization of naval ships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES
§ Able
to use hand and power tools.
§ Reads
and understand job specifications.
§ Ability
to read precision instruments.
§ General
knowledge of shipboard layout.
§ Removal
and installation of shipboard equipment.
§ Perform
applicable testing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Outside Machinist
Journeyman must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential
functions of this job. The position is active and requires extensive standing,
walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and
crouching. Additional demands are listed

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
§ Must
have basic math skills
§ Must
have a minimum of 5 years of ship board machinist experience and
qualifications.

be able to speak and understand Basic English
